This means you must be<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>A\u00a0<\/em>South African citizen with a valid ID,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Over the age of\u00a0<em>21 and mentally competent to sign a contract,<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Married or living with a partner, or single and having dependents (single military veterans or aged people without dependents also qualify),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Earn less than R3 500 per month per household (so, if two people in your family earn and these earnings amount to more than R3 500 per month, you will\u00a0<strong>not<\/strong>\u00a0qualify).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A first-time government subsidy recipient,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A first-time homeowner.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>To apply for a government subsidy house, you need to take the following documents to your nearest customer care center:<\/em><\/strong><\/p><div class=\"c6e9558a51edd25bd7c65c3999f9409d\" data-index=\"2\" style=\"float: none; margin:10px 0 10px 0; text-align:center;\">\n<script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-4089950667983751\"\r\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n     data-ad-layout-key=\"-fb+5w+4e-db+86\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-4089950667983751\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"4472093906\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Applicant and spouse\u2019s identity documents (green book or ID card),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Certified copies of birth certificates of children,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Proof of income if working, e.g., payslip.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You will be asked to fill in a housing subsidy application form and will then be registered on the Municipal Housing Demands Database\u2014this is a \u201cwaiting list.&#8221; Only once a housing development is completed and if you are next on the list will you be given keys and a title deed to your home\u2014but it can take many years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Resumes &amp; Portfolios<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>NOTE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It is illegal to sell an RDP house before you have lived in it for eight years.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It is illegal to rent out an RDP house.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Should you want to extend or renovate an RDP home before eight years of ownership, you need to get permission from the city.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you are disabled, the design of the house may change to accommodate the special needs of the person\u2019s disability.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dhs.gov.za\/content\/faq\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">frequently asked questions&nbsp;(FAQs)<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n<div class=\"c6e9558a51edd25bd7c65c3999f9409d\" data-index=\"3\" style=\"float: none; margin:10px 0 10px 0; text-align:center;\">\n<script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-4089950667983751\"\r\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"autorelaxed\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-4089950667983751\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"2235891538\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script>\n<\/div>\n\n<div style=\"font-size: 0px; height: 0px; line-height: 0px; margin: 0; padding: 0; clear: both;\"><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>RDP houses Having basic housing (RDP house) is a fundamental right of each person irrespective of race, gender, and social status.
